About Cullen’s Cottages

A labour of love in the Wicklow Mountains

Cullen’s Cottages grew from a decade‑long restoration by your hosts, Ciara and Eamonn. A cluster of timeworn stone buildings has become a warm, elegant retreat where mountain air, quiet luxury, and genuine hospitality meet. Set above Roundwood with trails, lakes, and heathered slopes on the doorstep, our cottages are an inviting base for days of exploration and nights by the fire.

Our Story

We live here with our two sons and have poured years of craft into Fort William, preserving its character while adding the comforts today’s travellers expect. The name reflects the property’s heritage; our approach is modern, thoughtful design, natural materials, and details that feel effortless the moment you arrive. Calm bedrooms, generous showers, and welcoming living spaces keep the spirit of the originals while elevating everyday comfort.

A stay tailored to you

Whether you’re escaping for a quiet weekend, reconnecting as a couple, or planning a group stay for up to eight adults, Cullen’s Cottages offers space, privacy, and a sense of easy togetherness. Each stay blends rustic Irish charm with modern luxury, the perfect base for exploring Wicklow’s mountains, lakes, and winding trails.

Why here

What sets us apart is our balance of freedom and comfort. Flexible stays mean you can book one suite or combine all three for a private retreat ideal for group getaways or holidays shared between three or four couples. Every visit feels bespoke, every detail personal.

How we host

Our style is personal and quietly attentive. We are on site when you need us—ready with route ideas, dinner suggestions, or a taxi number and invisible when you don’t. Guests tell us the true luxury here is ease: lighting the fire after a long hike, pouring a glass of wine, and feeling instantly at home. Families, couples, solo travellers all find a rhythm that suits.

What sets us apart

For travellers from abroad

Many guests fly into Dublin and head straight for Roundwood to begin or end an Irish journey on a restorative note. Multi‑night stays work best: slow mornings, a hike or round of golf, an afternoon by the fire or out exploring, and unhurried dinners in nearby villages. If you’re coming from the US or mainland Europe, we can share three‑day itineraries for hikers, food lovers, and explorers.

Our promise

Cullen’s Cottages brings together the best of Wicklow: the drama of the mountains, the warmth of a family‑run stay, and the quiet pleasures of good design. Come for the scenery; return for the feeling of being known and looked after. Whether it’s your first time in Ireland or a long‑awaited return, we’ll help you write days that feel adventurous and nights that feel truly restful.
